Andy managed to refit the front panel on the National that literally fell out. Investigations revealed that the bus had received accident damage on this near side corner which had probably popped the rubber off of the lip. We do have an original Pay As You Enter sign but if was too small to fit so the original, which broke in half when it fell out, was refitted with some washing up liquid and sealant!
The pictures for the rally are now on line. The link can be found on the Home Page.
This coming Sunday is of course the excellent Herne Bay Bus Rally which is held in William Street Car Park in the town. Originally I hoped to take a few of our buses along but an expensive MOT on my car and buying 7041 has put pay to this. We will be there in (probably!) 5137 which would be her first visit to this event.
On September 11th there is the New Romney Bus Rally which is held in the car park of the light railway station. Classic buses, steam trains and fish and chips at Dungeness - what could be better? Again I will be taking one of our buses along - maybe 7980 or 7681.
The Thanet Roadrun will also hopefully be in September too at some point where we will be celebrating 7681's 30th birthday and her 10th year in preservation. If you'd like more information on any of these events please contact me via the site.
I would like to thank everyone for the interest and support with this site. Last month on the 20th July we had 389 hits which for such a specialist site is fantastic. The site has been running now for about four and a half years and has gone from strength to strength.
As stated in the Picture of the Month Western National Bristol LH 3131 has arrived at her new home in east Kent. She is being kept under cover at the East Kent Heritage Garage in Sandwich, where Bernard is hoping to take another space for rotation of one of the other buses. Coupled to the space that DMS550 is using at the moment and that should give us 3 undercover spaces - better than what we've got right now. This will mean we can rotate and 'shop' that need bodywork (Nuw, 1178 and 7980).
