Well it had to happen at some point and Bank Holiday Monday in the hot Kentish sunshine seemed like the best time. PKE809M finally managed to meet her slightly older sister PKE807M. Looking on was East Kent MFN41R and SKL681X. Ironically whilst PKE809M, MFN41R and SKL681X were more than obliging to start up and move, stubborn PKE807M refused to play and stayed in her spot. Maybe she was overwhelmed...
Over the last few months I've been working on the interior of this old 1974 Bristol VR with the help of Rosiy. I decided to start on the inside rather than the outside as summer isn't the best months to be halfway through an exterior repaint plus I'm already doing the exterior of 40301.
Inside, PKE809M is complete but tired. She's showing every one of those 44 years of her age. Starting on the upper deck, the front destination area has been rebuilt (see previous posts) and now we've started on the seats, upholstery and floor. Seat frames are being painted green, upholstery is being cleaned and the flooring is being repaired and painted in a Southdown style green- not authentic but it looks fabulous.
