7681's trip to Rye

On Sunday 12th July me and a group of friends from Thanet Ghostwatch took 7681 for a day out in Rye in East Sussex. The weather was truely on our side as the rain that had been hanging around in the morning soon gave way to warm sunshine and clear blue skies. We left Ramsgate at 1015hrs and arrived around 1300hrs after an enjoyable run through Dover, Folkestone, Hythe, New Romney and Camber. Coming back we left Rye around 1900hrs and arrived back at about 2130hrs. 7681 was stabled over in Thanet before returning home via Kent Top Travel's Park and Ride depot at Lydden. This was, I believe, the longest trip 7681 has undertaken since delivery back in 1981 and the first time for many years 7681 has left Kent. We're now planning a trip to Hastings!
